Set up your work schedule
Zeitbro works out your daily target from your work schedule – weekly hours divided by workdays – and builds your overtime balance on it. You chose the first values during setup; this is where you change them. Note that a change also applies to past months.

What you need
- A Zeitbro account – see Create your account and get started.
- Your weekly hours and workdays from your employment contract.
1 · Open the settings
Click the gear icon at the top right of the navigation. On a phone, tap your profile picture or initials at the top right, then Settings. The page opens on Profile.
2 · Go to Work Settings
On a computer the sections are listed on the left. On a phone, the button at the top right opens Settings Sections. Choose Work Settings.
3 · Enter your weekly hours
Under Weekly Hours, enter how many hours a week you are meant to work; the default is 40. Unlike the setup slider, this field also takes values below 10 or above 50.
Your daily target is your weekly hours divided by the number of working days. 40 hours over five days makes 8:00 a day; 30 hours over four days makes 7:30. Work longer or shorter on a working day and your balance moves by the difference.
4 · Tick your working days
Under Working Days, tick the days you normally work – Mon to Fri to begin with. Only these days have a target. If you work part-time on fixed days, tick just those, and your weekly target is spread across them.
Zeitbro calculates every day’s target with your current values, including past months. Change your weekly hours or working days and your balance so far changes with them. To correct it, open the menu with the three dots at the top right of the Calendar and choose Add Hours. The correction applies to the month shown and every month after it.
5 · Check the other values
- Max Daily Hours – 10 by default. It changes neither your target nor your balance.
- Vacation Days Per Year – 30 by default. Zeitbro uses it for your remaining vacation days.
- Office Attendance (%) – 60 by default. The dashboard uses it to show how many office days you need in a month.
Further down, Break Settings (3-Tier) decide how much break Zeitbro deducts automatically, depending on how long you work – by default 0, 30 and 45 minutes, with limits at 6 and 9 hours. Public holidays come from your state under Regional & Holidays. Set up automatic breaks and Public holidays by German state cover both in detail.
6 · Save
As soon as you change something, Save Changes appears at the bottom. Click it and Zeitbro confirms with Settings Saved. Changes in several sections are saved together with one click.
If you leave the settings without saving, your changes are lost – Zeitbro does not ask.
7 · Check the result
On a computer, the Calendar shows your target at the top next to the month, for example 8:00/day | 40:00/week. Phones hide this line.
Frequently asked questions
What counts if I work on a day off?
Days that are not ticked under Working Days have no target. If you work anyway, all of that time is added to your balance.
How do vacation, sick days and public holidays count?
As a fulfilled workday. In the calendar your balance stays the same on those days – there is nothing to make up.
