Book vacation days – one or many
A single vacation day goes straight into its calendar row; a week or more is quicker in the Time Off Planner. Zeitbro tells planned vacation apart from confirmed vacation and shows how many days you have left.

What you need
- Your Vacation Days Per Year in Work Settings – 30 by default. Where to change it is covered in Set up your work schedule.
1 · Open the Time Off Planner
Click Calendar at the top (on a phone, in the bottom bar), then the menu with the three dots at the top right → Vacation Calendar. On the Home page the same item sits in the menu of the Stats & Insights panel. The Time Off Planner opens. At the top, Vacation with the current year shows how many days you have left, with Used, Planned and Left below.
2 · Choose vacation and a status
Vacation is already selected under Day Type. Status starts on Planned, meant for vacation that has not been approved yet. Once it is approved, click Confirmed. How the two differ is explained under “How vacation counts” below.
3 · Select the days
Click each vacation day in the calendar; click it again to unselect it. On a computer, Shift + click selects a whole stretch. The buttons next to Quick: select Today, This week, Next week or 2 weeks.
The planner skips Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays: it doesn’t count them and writes nothing there. The Summary shows the Workdays, any holidays skipped and, for confirmed vacation, how many days you will have left.
The planner always treats Monday to Friday as workdays, including the quick buttons. If you work fewer days, unselect your days off – otherwise Zeitbro books vacation on them too.
4 · Save
Click the button at the bottom, for example Confirm 5 Days or Plan 5 Days. Zeitbro shows Days marked! and closes the planner. You can’t confirm more vacation than you have left this year: the planner then shows Not enough vacation days! and keeps the button disabled.
If one of the selected days already has an entry – work time or a sick day, say – the planner replaces it with vacation. Check your selection before you save.
5 · Book or confirm a single day in its row
For one day, click the status field in its calendar row and pick Vacation. Zeitbro asks Select Vacation Type: Planned or Confirmed. Your choice is saved right away.
This is also how you confirm a planned day. Its status field reads Vacation (Planned); pick Vacation, then Confirmed.
How vacation counts
- Confirmed – Zeitbro counts the day as 8 hours. In the calendar your balance stays the same, whatever your daily target. The day appears under Used.
- Planned – The day has no target and counts no hours, so your balance stays the same here too. It appears under Planned, not under Used.
Left in the planner is your vacation days per year minus the confirmed vacation days in the current calendar year.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the Home page show fewer days left than the planner?
The Home page also subtracts planned days. In the planner, Left only subtracts confirmed vacation.
Can I book half a vacation day?
No, Zeitbro currently only knows full vacation days.
How do I cancel vacation?
Set the day back to Office in its calendar row. Zeitbro removes the vacation and the day is an empty workday again.
Does unused vacation carry over into the new year?
No. Zeitbro counts vacation per calendar year against your Vacation Days Per Year.
