FLEXITIME

Flexitime – flexible & transparent

Flexitime gives you freedom over your working hours – but only if you stay on top of your balance. Zeitbro records your flexible hours, shows your current balance and makes flex days easy to plan.

BASICS

What is flexitime?

Flexitime is a working-hours model in which employees can choose the start and end of their working day within a defined window – the flexitime frame. There is typically an earliest start, a latest finish and a core-time block during which presence is required.

For employees, flexitime means genuine self-responsibility: starting early and taking short breaks builds up a surplus; working shorter days reduces it. For that to work, every minute of actual working time needs to be recorded reliably.

TERMS

Core time, flexitime window and flex day

The flexitime frame defines the window in which work may take place – for example 06:00 to 20:00. The core time is the block within that window during which all employees must be present, such as 09:00 to 15:00. Hours worked outside the core time flow into the running balance.

A flex day is a full day off taken from accumulated overtime credit. In Zeitbro you mark a day as a flex day; the system deducts your daily work target from the balance without requiring any work on that day. For more on how the balance is calculated, see our hours account page.

  • Flexitime frame: earliest possible start to latest possible end
  • Core time: mandatory presence window within the frame
  • Surplus hours: minutes worked beyond the daily target
  • Flex day: a full day off taken from accumulated overtime credit

FAIRNESS

Managing overtime fairly

Flexitime only works fairly when every minute is recorded – both surplus and deficit hours. Zeitbro maintains your hours account continuously: each recorded day updates the balance so you always know how many hours you have saved up or used. No recalculating in Excel, no guessing at the end of the month.

Employees who accumulate overtime under a flexitime arrangement are entitled to take those hours as flex days. Zeitbro makes exactly that visible: you see your current balance, can enter flex days and track in real time how your credit develops.

PLANNING

Planning flex days with Zeitbro

Planning a flex day in Zeitbro is straightforward: open the desired day in the monthly calendar, set the status to flex day and Zeitbro takes care of the rest. The daily work target is deducted from the balance – the day itself appears clearly marked as a flex day, with no working time.

This keeps you informed at all times: how many flex days do you still have available? Does your credit cover the day off you have in mind? With the live hours balance in Zeitbro, these are no longer questions you have to answer in your head.
